GATE 2022 Result – How Marks will be Calculated?

Following the evaluation of the responses, the candidate’s real (raw) GATE 2022 score will be computed. Candidates’ raw scores will be transformed to subject-specific normalised marks for exams (subjects) that span several sessions. Thus, raw scores (for single-session exams) or normalised scores (for multiple-session exams) will be used to determine the GATE score 2022, which will be calculated using the qualifying marks.

Because certain GATE 2022 sessions will be divided into several sessions, the same technique for normalisation will be utilised to account for any difference in the difficulty level of the question papers across sessions. The authorities will normalise on the premise that “in all GATE tests with several sessions, the distribution of candidates’ skills is consistent throughout all sessions.”

This is a plausible expectation given the large number of applications for the GATE 2022 multiple-session tests and the random assignment of sessions to applicants.

GATE 2022 Scorecard

From March 21, qualified candidates will be able to see their GATE 2022 scorecards by logging onto GOAPS. The GATE 2022 scorecard will include the candidate’s name, the marks obtained, the candidate’s All India Rank, the candidate’s normalised score, and other pertinent information. Only those who secure at least the minimal qualifying cutoff in the GATE will be labelled “Qualified” and eligible to apply for admission or recruitment.

Candidates are recommended to save a copy of their GATE 2022 scorecard for future reference, as it is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the result for M. Tech admissions. It should be noted, however, that this validity may not apply to PSU recruiting unless specifically stated in the recruitment.
